Leaving your personal life at home…Seriously??

Rebecca Faith Photo-1044.jpg

Make no mistake, this is your journey and it is unique.

The simple fact is, we bring ourselves, our ‘whole selves’ to the workplace. That is, we bring our values, our experiences, our fears, our culture and our behaviours. Often, we don’t realise how unique that makes us because we spend so much time trying to leave our personal lives at home (who ever decided that was a good idea?) but we can’t just split ourselves down the middle and take a different person to work.

Well, often when we try to do that we can encounter problems; imagine suffering a bereavement, or struggling with an illness or coping with challenges in our personal lives. Work can be a welcome distraction, but sometimes, under those circumstances, it can be difficult to function, behave or perform to our best.

So how can I help?

Working together, I guide you, help you and occasionally challenge you on your underlying thoughts, patterns of behaviour and beliefs. Mostly I am in coaching mode; sometimes I am a mentor and sometimes I am the biggest pain in the ass because I know we’ve hit on something important and I won’t let it go.

Sometimes you will hate me for it, when, in that moment you are facing your own fears. Sometimes, we will burst into laughter, (I can never work out if this is from relief or you might actually find me amusing).

More often though, you will love it, for the relief you feel and answers you find. There is nothing quite like that ‘OMG’ moment when you unlock the very thing that has held you back, when it seems so blindingly obvious, you have no idea why you couldn’t see it before.

 Knowledge is like underwear.

It’s useful to have but not necessary to show it off.

Testimonials

I sought help from Michelle after suffering with anxiety and depression as a result of work pressures and home life issues.

Her skills in neuro-linguistical programming (NLP) have been a revelation. Thanks to her I have found the courage to both change jobs and end a toxic marriage.

Her help, counselling and support has been a genuinely life changing experience. I couldn’t and wouldn’t have done it without her.

Needless to say I can’t recommend her highly enough.

I’ve had both CBT and NLP (coaching with Michelle) to overcome feelings of anxiety and stress relating to travel whether that be for work or leisure. It was part of my life for over 20 years. CBT taught me that I could keep putting my hand on the lamp and it wouldn’t get hot. NLP removed the lamp. It was that simple. I cannot express the freedom I now feel for me and my family. If you are hesitating, don’t, it can be life changing.

Michelle has been instrumental in the significant advancement of, over a short period of time, my professional career. She has worked with me to overcome
many challenges; I’ve improved my presentation skills; I now have a much better understanding of the needs of others; I am able to make my point and stay true to my personality and beliefs, as well as adopting new techniques to help engage with others. An example of this, in a previous role, is where I felt intimidated by other colleagues’ skills and an overwhelming fear of my boss. This fear stifled me in team meetings and prevented me from showing my true personality and abilities. Michelle taught me new techniques which helped me to visualise my boss, colleagues and myself in a different way, which was instantly successful, enabling me to not only behave more confidently but to truly feel it too. This confidence has remained with me, helping me approach new challenges differently and has definitely accelerated my career advancement.
